Messy Adventure to Yogyakarta #2: Let's Eat!

Sorry for the late update! O.K for this post, I am gonna tell you about my culinary adventure on my latest Yogyakarta trip (nothing really special though, lol)

1. Eating in Jalan Malioboro

On the first day of our trip, we had a lunch in Jalan Malioboro, in front of Pasar Beringharjo to be exact. We ate in traditional food stalls there, which are lined across the road. Just as you expected, because the stalls stand on the side of the road in open air, the place is kinda dusty and hot and the food hygiene is questioned.

Basically each food stall offers same foods, like chicken, tempe, tofu, satay, and several vegetables (e.g. pecel). For the price, it is not expensive. I ate rice with pecel and quail eggs satay and a glass of iced tea and it costed only Rp15.000,-. I personally prefer eating in warteg rather than on that place though, but Hana said that we should try to eat there. It is a must-to-eat, Hana said.

After that, we then went to Bakpiapia, a famous Bakpia store in Jalan Malioboro. Actually, it is not exactly located in the road, but on an alley of the road. Bakpia is a food specialty in Yogyakarta and Bakpiapia offers something different. Besides producing regular bakpia, It also offers what they call with "blasteran" bakpia. It basically consists of two fillings in the bakpia, mung beans and other (e.g. cheese, chocolate, coffee, etc). The price of a box of regular bakpia (20 pcs) or a box of "blasteran" bakpia (12 pcs) is only Rp30.000,-. I bought 2 boxes of regular bakpia and a box of "blasteran" bakpia. Aside from bakpia, Bakpiapia also produces other snacks. A one-stop for buying souvenirs.

2. Kalimilk

On the next day, Rilin suggested for us to go to Kalimilk restaurant. Kalimilk is a famous restaurant (or a cafe) in Yogyakarta that offers various kinds of milk, from a plain milk to mocha or green tea. It is located in Jalan Kaliurang KM 4.5 No 99, Yogyakarta.

One thing is for sure that the milk they offer is a fresh milk and a delicious one! The price ranges from Rp15.000,- to Rp25.000,- depends on the size of the glass. I ordered a glass of green tea milk and it tastes really delicious. It has strong flavor of green tea but it is not bad. Rilin ordered strawberry milk and Hana order mocha milk. I forget what Dita ordered. lol. Besides milk, I order a meat platter with rice. I also forget the name. lol. Rilin ordered spaghetti bolognese and Hana ordered beef risoless with mayonnaise. For the food, the price ranges from Rp15.000,- to Rp35.000,-.

On the other note, I and Tri tried a new hip snack in Jakarta! lol. It is called dragon cookies and dragon oreos, by Freeze Ice Cream located in Pondok Indah Mall 2. Basically it is a regular cookie or oreo which is served with liquid nitrogen so it oozes smokes. It is only Rp4.000,- each. Check video below. lol.

Pardon me for that disgusting face :( lol

Manifesto #4: Keseharian

I really like art. I like every types of art, from painting, photography, music, and of course theater! Saturday, 31st May, I, Tri, and Tata went to have a visit for a big art exhibition at Galeri Nasional, Manifesto series.

Manifesto is an art exhibition which is held biennially and Manifesto #4: Keseharian is the fourth one. There is at least 350 artists joining this art exhibition which exhibit more or less 79 pieces of 2D and 3D artworks. (source: Galeri Nasional website)

To be honest, I don't really understand about art (even theater which I have taken for 3 years). But that doesn't prevent us to enjoy arts, right? Artworks really please me, including those artworks at Manifesto #4: Keseharian.

Anyway, the place was pretty much packed with people. A lot of people wore nice clothes and took a lot of pictures, including me. Lol. It took us about 2 - 3 hours to see all of the artworks. After that, we decided to take a lunch at Grand Indonesia and to visit Market & Museum, a food festival held there. We ate ice cream served in coconut shell which sold for Rp25.000,- by Kelasi (Soo yummyyy, unique and pretty much cheap! lol). The next thing, Tri really craved for Addictea, which is still rare in Jakarta. So then, we went to Kemang to buy it and then went home. haha

Credits: for all artists whom I forgot to take the name :( sorry....

P.S. : stumbled across this video and been thinking to join dance club in my university. wkwkwk.

My Culinary Adventure #1

Yup, starting with this post, i'll post my culinary adventure in this blog. You know, I really love to eat and eat and eat and eat. lol

1. Milan Pizzeria Cafe

I went there with Karima, Audry, and Fania, my high school friends on Friday, May 9th. Actually, we didn't really plan to go there, but Fania told us that the place is pretty much new so we decided to go there.

This cafe is located in strategic street in Depok, that is in Jalan Margonda Raya No 514, Depok, not really far from University of Indonesia, about 10 minutes walk from Stasiun UI. And yup my guess was right, the cafe was packed by students of UI. The cafe is not really big, but it consists of 3 floors. The interior is retro-ish with dim lighting (that's why the photos that I took was bad. Urh). For the price, it ranges from Rp20.000,- to Rp100.000,- for foods and Rp10.000,- to Rp30.000,- for drinks. But there are some family packs menu that you can choose if you go there with your friends. I think that's the best deal. hahaha.

Basically, the place is really suitable for youngsters out there. Lol. A good place if you want to find new work atmosphere. The food tastes good with big portion. Worth with the money you'll spend.

2. Haikara Sushi

On the Sunday, May 11th, I, Uswa, and Dhea went to this (also) new restaurant. After we went to window shopping in Fx (like always lol), we decided to go there.

The restaurant is located in Jl. Barito 2 No 9, Blok M. Yup, really near to my home. I really love the atmosphere in this restaurant. It has strong Japanese feeling with its quiet atmosphere. The interior is mainly arranged with wood. It felt like I was really in Japan. lol. The price is pretty much cheap compared to other sushi restaurant. For the food, it ranges from Rp10.000,- to Rp40.000,- and for the drinks, it ranges from Rp5.000,- to Rp20.000,-. But yeah, with its cheap price it comes small portion (at least for me). Hahaha

I think the restaurant is suitable if you want to eat sushi with low budget. Also a nice choice if you want to find a quiet place to work.

High Up To The Sky

Finally after a long time preparing for Mimesasiso, I got to meet my friends again. A day after the show (on Sunday), I, Tri, Karima, and Oi went to Skye at Menara BCA. Originally, we planned to have visit to Trickart 3D at Grand Indonesia, but seeing the queue was too long and we were so lazy to stand for long time, we decided to cancel it. It was my first time to go there and I think the venue is so fabulous and cozy. The scenery and interior look very amazing and luxurious. But, since it is a bar, I don't really like the atmosphere. lol (I'm also have a little phobia of height)
